Purpose
The Fredericton PROBUS Club was founded in 2002 to provide opportunities for retired and semi-retired people who appreciate and value meeting others, and hearing presentations by guest speakers and experts on interesting and topical subjects.
We are a volunteer-based, non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian fellowship organization that is all about encouraging healthy minds and bodies and socializing with other retirees in the community.
WHY JOIN FREDERICTON PROBUS?
· It is a chance to hear directly from people who have special insight into events that matter or are, by their actions, making a real difference in our community.
· It gives you the ability to ask questions of experts in their field and engage in lively conversation.
· It is a non-political and non-fundraising group.
· It is 90 minutes to 2 hours once a month with no other commitments unless you choose to serve on the executive.
· It helps you continue to learn and stay informed on a wide range of topics.
· There is 30 minutes of social time that builds fellowship and goodwill amongst a group of people with diverse backgrounds and interests.
· Outings may be planned based on the interest of the members.
· A Christmas and June luncheon are held in other locations to provide further networking and socializing.
· The cost Is low for what you get. There is a $25 one-time fee for new members (to cover the cost of your nametag) plus the annual membership fee of $25 .
WHEN DO WE MEET?
The Fredericton PROBUS club meets the first Tuesday of each month from September to June. Meetings start at 10:00 am to allow time for socializing and networking, and a church group provides coffee and muffins for $3.00.
The speaker begins at 10:30 am for 30 minutes - 45 minutes followed by questions and often lively discussion.
